The Sentry: Field and tee times for the first PGA Tour event of 2024

The first PGA Tour event of 2024 sees some of the biggest names in golf head to Hawaii for The Sentry – the first of the season’s eight signature events.

Formerly known as The Sentry Tournament of Champions, a reduced field of 59 players will battle it out for the £15.9 million ($20m) purse across the Plantation Course at Kapalua, Maui.

Defending champion Jon Rahm will not. be teeing it up having been suspended by the PGA Tour following his move to LIV Golf, while World No.2 Rory McIlroy, who’s made a big U-turn on his criticism of LIV players, will also be absent despite having qualified.

Instead, McIlroy will start his 2024 campaign on the DP World Tour, playing in next week’s Dubai Invitational followed by the Dubai Desert Classic.

Despite the absence of two huge Ryder Cup stars, The Sentry boasts a stacked field with the rest of the world’s Top 10 all teeing it up, including World No.1 Scottie Scheffler.

Team Europe Ryder Cup stars Viktor Hovland, Matt Fitzpatrick, Ludvig Aberg, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose will also all be in action, alongside US compatriots Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark and Sam Burns.

There is no cut in the opening event of the year, which gets underway on Thursday (Jan 4) with Scheffler favorite to lift the title (5/1) ahead of Hovland.
