Which LIV Golf players are exempt for the 2025 majors?
Last updated:

Two of the majors have offered a direct qualification path for LIV golfers – but which of the league’s stars are exempt for the four biggest tournaments of the year?
For the first time since LIV Golf was founded in 2022, the league’s stars have a direct pathway into two of the major championships.
The USGA was first, revealing that the highest-placed golfer in the top three of LIV’s individual standings who is otherwise not exempt on May 19 will earn a spot in the US Open field at Oakmont.
The R&A soon followed suit, offering the same reward for this year’s Open at Royal Portrush – though while the St Andrews-based governing body has also only offered one spot, they have extended it to the top five in LIV’s standings.
Augusta National, meanwhile, is yet to offer a direct qualification route for LIV golfers to book a spot at the Masters, though their list of “special invites” in recent years – including 2025 – has included Joaquin Niemann.
The PGA of America has also issued an invite to the Chilean, as well as Sergio Garcia, who last played in the PGA Championship in 2022.
Each of the tournaments offer lengthy exemptions to former champions.
They also carry five-year exemptions for winners of other the other majors – which means Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm and Phil Mickelson are exempt for all four.
