Phil Mickelson reckons he will be fit for the US Open. “The timing could be better,” he said after pulling out of this week’s tournament in Memphis, “but the good news is the inflammation that can be relieved and I’m looking forward to playing the Open at 100%.”
The lefty’s season went south after his catastrophe at last year’s US Open at Winged Foot, when he sliced his drive on the 72nd hole into the hospitality area. A couple of months ago, Mickelson teamed up with Tiger’s former coach Butch Harmon, something which must irk the world number one. It should be quite a battle.
