Aug 1 Annika perfects her putting stroke

By Carly Cummins at St. Andrews

Annika Sorenstam will be hoping to put the disappointments of the last 12 months behind her when she tees off in the Ricoh British Ladies Open at St. Andrews this morning.

The Women’s World Number two was toppled from her number one post by Mexican star Lorena Ochoa, but has struggled to play her best golf this season due to a nasty back injury.

“I’m not back to 100%, but I’m a lot better than I was just a few weeks ago,” Sorenstam told Today’s Golfer. “It was quite a severe injury, unfortunately, but I have no pain, and right now I’m able to practice at full schedule. I’ve not been playing too much the last few months, and I’m still rusty; I have to get some runs under my belt and get in the competitive mode again.”

Annika will tee off at 11.37 this morning alongside new Major champion Morgan Pressel and South African Ashleigh Simon.
