Kenneth Ferrie will treat Augusta as a “once-in-a-lifetime experience” as he attempts to repeat his exploits at last year’s US Open.
The 28-year-old from Northumberland secured his right to appear at The Masters by finishing sixth at Winged Foot.
Since the day he was woken up by his father, a huge Sandy Lyle fan, to be told that the Scot had won the Masters in 1988 Ferrie, only nine at the time, has been aware of how special an event it is.
“It’s the biggest week I’ve had as a pro so far – and while, touch wood, it won’t be, it could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I’m going to treat it like that,” he said.
“I want to do as well as I can, but I want to enjoy it as much as I can too. It’s one of those events you really strive to make and you have to do something pretty special just to get there.”
You could pick Ferrie in your Fantasy League Team. He’s a snip at $0.9m, which leaves you another £14.1m to spend.
