Apr8 Masters Woods final

Tiger Woods showed a chink in his once impenetrable armour when he failed to win a Major when he had the lead for the first time in his career.
Woods went to the top of the Masters leaderboard when he birdied the second hole, but he gave it back at the sixth. Despite an eagle at the par-5 13th, he could not make up the two shots he needed to get into a playoff with Zach Johnson.
Every other time Woods has had the lead in a Major, he’s gone on to win. But after his round he was philosophical, saying: “I had a chance this week, but lost it with two bogey-bogey finishes in two rounds.
“It wasn’t a disappointing day today. I threw this tournament away on Friday and Saturday, when I had two good rounds that finished with two bogeys.
“The course was playing very difficult. You had to keep plodding along, giving yourself good chances that could turn into a birdie – they were very difficult to come Woods made a bogey at the first after a perfect drive. He bounced back to take the outright lead with a birdie at the par-5 second, but then bogied the par-3 sixth to go back to +4 – putting himself into a four-way tie at the top.
He added: “Scoring was a little easier today – the pin locations were a little softer, so they gave us a break which was nice, and a chance to go out there and score.”
