Seve Ballesteros was presented with PGA Recognition Award for his services to golf.

The five times Major winner said: “It’s a great honour to receive this award, esepcially here in the UK where I have so many happy memories.”

PGA Chief Executive Sandy Jones said: “We always recognise greatness in life, but we get very few occasions to recognise genius and Seve is simply a golfing genius..

“In the 70s, 80s and 90s he lit up golf world with his charisma, skill and flair, winning millions of fans in the process and playing a significant part in making the European Tour what it is today.”

Seve, 49, has vowed to play in next year’s Open at Carnoustie.
