Feb14 Player Hall of Fame

The World Golf Hall of Fame will soon add “Gary Player: A Global Journey,” with newly acquired items from Player’s 50th Masters Tournament in April.

Upon competing in his 50th Masters Tournament in Augusta, World Golf Hall of Fame Global Ambassador Gary Player has agreed to lend the Hall of Fame items of clothing, hats and gloves worn throughout the competition, as well as golf balls and a 50th anniversary custom-made golf bag that is being designed by Callaway Golf.

“As a three-time Masters champion and one of only two golfers to play in the event 50 times, Gary’s connection to The Masters, Augusta National and the rich history it represents is a significant part of his legacy,” said Jack Peter, the Hall’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “On behalf of the fans of the game and the guests of the Hall of Fame, we are grateful for his willingness to share these items of historical significance.  His exhibit has been extremely well-received since we opened it last year and we look forward to continuing to tell his story.”

“Gary Player: A Global Journey” tells the story of the world’s most travelled athlete and explores the impact he has had on the game and beyond through a comprehensive collection of personal memorabilia, historic artefacts, images and video.  The exhibit showcases a variety of themed areas representing Player’s life on and off the course including The Grand Slam, The World Stage, The Knight’s Shining Armour and The Legend of the Black Knight.
