The Montgomerie Links Vietnam broke ground today on an imaginative 3,000-square-metres clubhouse near the storied sands of China Beach.

With sights set on providing an off-course experience on par with the spectacular collection of golf holes taking shape here, The Montgomerie Links Vietnam commenced construction on a 3,000-square-meter clubhouse destined to become an architectural marvel and Da Nang area hot spot.

The Montgomerie Links is the first and only Colin Montgomerie-designed and branded course in Vietnam. When finished later this year, it will be among Asia’s finest golf experiences.

Perched on the highest part of the dunesy property and designed with a distinct nod toward modern engineering, the structure will offer breathtaking views while at the same time serving as an elegant social centerpiece.

“The clubhouse has been uniquely styled to achieve the highest in both form and function,” said Jon Tomlinson, the club’s general manager. “The superb design and contemporary detailing will perfectly complement the championship-calibre layout that Colin has crafted.”

Designed by Gravity Partnership Limited of Hong Kong, the clubhouse is being built to blend into the rugged Central Coast landscape, maximize natural light and promote a sense of feng shui. Proof is in the innovative blueprints, which call for floor-to-ceiling windows, large balconies with overhangs, and an expansive roof deck with vistas of the course and East Sea. The facility is expected to open in January 2009.

Located just off breathtaking Ha My Beach and minutes from Da Nang’s international airport, The Montgomerie Links moves boldly over a striking landscape of wispy casuarina pines and sand dunes.

Eight-times European Tour Order of Merit Monty says:  “Vietnam is an exciting area, especially this particular region, China Beach, the historical nature of it and what we can do here.

“It’s a beautiful beach, a beautiful golf course site. To find a course site like this, these days, is very rare.”

Course developer Indochina Capital has committed $45 million to The Montgomerie Links Vietnam project, breaking new leisure ground in the most promising resort region yet developed in Vietnam.
