Feb3 Quinneyontop

Rookie Jeff Quinney leads the FBR Open at TPC Scottsdale.

This may be the 28-year-old’s first year on the PGA Tour but he’s showing no signs of stage fright. He has already had two top 10s this year – tied fourth at the Bob Hope Classic and tied seventh at the Buick.

And he knows he’ll need to keep his calm today as he attempt to hold onto to his two-shot lead,

Aaron Baddely lives nearby and is putting his local knowledge to good use. He is 14 under and chasing hard.

But Quinney knows he can’t play safe: “I can’t just go out and shoot par. I have to make birdies.”

Englishman Justin Rose continues his good start to the season and is at nine under. Another good round today should see him into the top 20.
