Junior golf in Scotland is set to benefit from nearly a quarter of a million pounds worth of investment over the next two years.

The Golf Foundation has announced the move which will include funding for two regional managers as well as a discretionary grant-aid scheme to support the introduction of the national junior golf strategy in clubs and promotional activity at major events.

In addition clubgolf, which introduces youngsters in Scotland to the game, will be making good use of the Foundation’s initiatives including Tri-Golf and the Junior Golf Passport.

Golf Foundation Chief Executive Mike Round commented: “We are pleased to be working with clubgolf which is capturing the interest of children through school-based activity and feeding them into club-based programmes delivered by volunteer coaches and PGA Professionals. We hope that our support will assist with the implementation of the national strategy.”

He added: “Donations received from Scottish golf clubs through our ‘Commit to Junior Golf’ fundraising campaign are used to fund the delivery of the national plan so the greater the level of support for the campaign, the more we are able to invest in school and community activity across the country.”
