Martin Kaymer’s stock has risen this week after he eased to his maiden European Tour title, with victory in Abu Dhabi – the first time he used Titleist’s soon to be released ZM Forged irons!
The rookie of the year finished on 15 under par, four shots clear of nearest competitors Henrik Stenson and Lee Westwood.
By winning the prestigious event, Kaymer became the first player to snatch victory using Titleist’s new ZM Forged Irons, which will go on sale in Europe in March.
The ZM Forged is a traditional compact muscle back iron, forged with 1025 carbon steel and bright chrome plating for traditional feel, superior looks and shot control which suits the serious player.
The 23-year-old started the day with a healthy six-shot lead, but three bogeys in as many holes on the front nine gave his opponents hope.
However, the youngster refused to wilt under pressure and came home with a one-under-par 35, which was good enough to see him take home a first prize of over 225,000 Euros.
Kaymer said: “The feeling is unbelievable. I did struggle on the front nine, but I just tried to stick to my gameplan; hit fairways and greens.”
INFORMATION: The ZM Forged Irons will be available from March 15. Be sure to check the Today’s Golfer website for an update on price and TG the magazine when we test them for the first time against their opposition!
