jul 21 titleist number one at open
Last updated:
Yet again and for a staggering 29th consecutive year, Titleist proved to be the #1 ball at The Open with their legendary Pro V1 golf ball.
Not only did double Open champion Padraig Harrington choose the Pro V1 to plot his way to victory at Royal Birkdale, but a total of 95 players (60.9%) in the field teed up with either a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, just under four times as many as the nearest competitor with 24 players.
Also, at the Final Open Qualifying events held at Hill Side, Southport & Ainsdale and West Lancashire, the Titleist ball count was very impressive with 88.5% of the cumulative fields opting to play Pro V1. Indeed, it was a similar story at the Regional Qualifying tournaments where 88.3% of the total field across 16 events played Pro V1.
Despite a growing number of top quality ball manufacturers, the Pro V1 is still the choice for the game’s elite with a choice of two high performance golf balls to suit their game. The standard Pro V1 provides improved launch conditions for longer distance while maintaining superior Drop-and-Stop™ performance into and around the green, while the Tour favourite Pro V1x delivers longer distance via slightly lower spin off of the driver, as well as lower spin on full iron and wedge shots for improved greenside control for higher swingspeed players.
