John (39) is still on cloud nine after uncannily registering his first ever hole-in-one on the seventh day of the seventh month of 2007. If that wasn’t enough he achieved it on the 7th hole of the Club Championship and used – you’ve guessed it – a 7-iron. Unbelievable and sales engineer John is still in a state of shock, saying: ” I didn’t realise for quite a while what had happened.

“The hole is hidden from view from the tee and I spent a while looking for the ball …until someone suggested I checked out the hole! “

Although he didn’t win the championship, it was still a memorable occasion for John who celebrated in style by placing a bottle of plonk on each of the 18 tables at the official function afterwards.
