June 8 Montgomerie
Published: Last updated:
Less than a week before the start of the US Open at Oakmont, Colin Montgomerie crashed out of the BA-CA Golf Open in Austria.
The Scot followed up his first-round 73 with a 74 on Friday, giving him a five-over-par score for 36 holes, with the projected cut around the level par mark.
The 43-year-old, who started from the 10th at the Vienna course, began well enough with a birdie at his first hole, but a double bogey at the 13th and two more dropped shots on 16 and 17 saw him go out in 38.
Montgomerie’s luck didn’t change on the front nine with another double on six, tempered only by a birdie on his last hole, leaving him well adrift of the cut mark.
