Brian Davis enjoyed a fine weekend at the St Jude Championship by recording a second-place finish behind winner Woody Austin, his best-placed result in a PGA Tour event.

The Englishman fired a final-round 66 to finish on eight-under, five shots adrift of Austin who carded a magnificent 62 at the Memphis event.

Overnight leader Adam Scott, who had a four stroke advantage over Austin going into Sunday, slumped to a disappointing 75 to finish in seventh place on four under.

The victory was American Austin’s first triumph on the Tour since his win at the Buick Championship back in 2004.
