Norway’s Suzann Pettersen claimed her first Major title after posting a final round 67 at the McDonalds LPGA Championship in Maryland.

Pettersen shot six birdies and just a solitary bogey in her five-under par total to record a 72-hole score of 14 under, a shot clear of Karrie Webb.

Australian Webb made birdies on the closing two holes, but had to settle for second, as she did last year. Teenager Na On Min was third, a further shot adrift.

Scottish duo Catriona Matthew and Mhairi McKay led the British charge by finishing tied for 10th on seven under.
