Phil Mickelson refused to let his wrist injury stand in his way during the first round of the US Open in Oakmont.

He described his wrist as “sore, aggravating and annoying,” but that “I feel OK to hit balls”, blaming his rusty start on being unable to prepare properly.

Mickelson was in the rough “a lot more than he wanted to be” but battled on to par his way home. Click here to hear what Mickelson had to say after his round.
