Englishman Paul Casey has announced that he has split with caddie Craig Connolly after three years of working together.
Casey, ranked 16th in the world, made the announcement ahead of the BMW International in Munich, saying: “We’ve probably been getting at each other and it’s best to keep your sanity.
“We were friends before we were working together so to save the friendship it’s probably best to take away the golf.”
Casey tied for 10th position at last week’s US Open in Oakmont, but the 29-year-old will now turn to Irishman John Mulrooney for the bag duties in Germany.
Casey is the second high-profile player to take a break with his caddie this month, after Colin Montgomerie dispensed of Alastair McLean’s services for the second Major of the year.
