Greg Norman’s wife has pocketed more than £60million in a divorce settlement with the Aussie.
It is thought the double Open champion succumbed to his wife’s massive demands in order to spare his new lady, former tennis great Chris Evert, the humiliation of court.
Ex-wife Laura, 57, smiled throughout the 90-minute proceedings and appeared elated as she left court with a friend. Her lawyer, Jack Scarola, said the mother-of two was extremely pleased with the outcome.
“She is very happy this matter has been amicably resolved and has been resolved on terms with which she is quite satisfied,” he said. Norman, 52, did not attend the hearing, choosing instead to stroll around one of his courses in southern Australia with Evert. In a statement, Norman said: “The settlement has been agreed to and that’s all I can say.
“Nobody likes to go through what we’ve gone through but that’s life and it’s over. The terms have been agreed to and let’s move on.” The deal ended the couple’s year-long battle over the Norman’s business empire and real estate empire.
