Top London venue The Grove has broken new golfing ground – golfers tackling the high quality ‘pay and play’ course can now gain a recognised handicap there following approval by the English Golf Union.

This new opportunity for golfers is unique: The Grove, which successfully staged last year’s World Golf Championship won by Tiger Woods, has had no members since opening in 2003. For the first time, visitors to The Grove can submit three scorecards – signed by a player with a certified handicap – to gain their first or may be to amend their current handicap.

Said Grove director of golf Spencer Schaub: “We see this appealing to non-club members who love to play golf but don’t have the time for regular games and therefore cannot justify joining a club. This gives those players the chance to gain a handicap on one of the toughest and best presented courses in the UK.”

To gain your handicap at The Grove though will cost you… big-time. Green fees at the classy Hertfordshire venue start at £105 so basically you’re looking at well over £300 worth to secure that precious handicap…
