Young gun Anton Haig won the Johnnie Walker Classic in scintilating style.
The 20-year-old South African ended up in a three-way play-off against countryman Richard Sterne and English hope Oliver Wilson (pictured).
Haig had only reached the play-off at the Blue Canyon course in Phuket, Thailand, after an amazing second shot on the 72nd hole that led to a birdie and a tie for the lead.
After jumping with joy and saluting his parents after the epic win, a stunned Haig said: “This is a dream come true. I didn’t even have my full European Tour card. It’s all just unbelievable.”
The win automatically earns his card for the rest of the year and the £200,000 first prize should come in pretty handy too!
Wilson and Sterne both narrowly missed birdie putts on the first play-off hole but Haig nailed his curling six-footer.
The big names came close but never really challenged on the final day. Retief Goosen ended fourth at 10 under – three shots off the lead. Erne Els and Colin Montgomerie were in a tie for sixth at eight under.
