Mar7 Free golf for kids

Calling all parents who are looking for a way to entertain their kids this half term! Glendale Golf is offering FREE golf sessions available to all children across the UK aged between 6-16 years from 29th May 2007 for one week.

Following the success of last summer’s event, Glendale Golf will open the doors of its seven nationwide courses to host a Kids Open Day. The one day event at each course will offer local children a series of free golf taster sessions. Glendale Golf PGA pros will be on hand to help children learn golfing skills and develop an interest in the sport from an early age.

The golf sessions will take place at each course over one day between 10am and 2pm with five children allocated to each group (6-9 yrs/10-13 yrs/14-16 yrs) every 30 minutes.  There will also be fun games and activities throughout the day including face painting, bouncy castles and more golf practice sessions.

At 2pm, the winners of each age category will be announced and presented with prizes including a years worth of free golf lessons at the Glendale Golf Junior Academy valued at up to £2,000.

They will also receive unlimited free golf and use of the practice areas at their local Glendale Golf-managed course for one year.  All children taking part in the Kid’s Open Day will also receive a certificate of participation, courtesy of Glendale Golf.

Last year’s Tilgate Forest course winner, Scott Hucksteep, aged 14, said: “Learning to play golf this year has been so much fun. The instructors have been really helpful and have given me loads of good advice. I was lucky enough to be chosen as the winner in the 14-16 yr category and I now play golf regularly. The free lessons at Glendale Golf are fantastic and they have enabled me to keep getting better and better!’

The Glendale Golf Kid’s Open Day will launch in association with SPARKS, Britvic and Nike Golf with celebrities and their children invited to attend.

Glendale Golf is proud to be working with SPARKS who fund pioneering medical research that has a practical, positive impact on the lives of babies and children.  Their aim is to enable all babies to be born healthy and stay healthy.  Statistically, 1 in 30 children will be born with a condition which may affect them for life.  SPARKS goal is to reduce this statistic by funding vital medical research into different areas affecting babies and children throughout the UK.
