You could say Carl Mason has dominated the English Seniors Open in recent times – he’s won a record three titles on the trot and will seek to make it four in a row at St Mellion, Cornwall, on August 17-19.

There’s simply no stopping Mason as far as this particular event is concerned: he triumphed at Hillside and Formby Hall before securing the ‘hat-trick’ and extending his perfect record with a one-stroke success over Stewart Ginn at St Mellion (pictured right) last year.

By finishing with a 54-hole total of four-under-par 212, Englishman Mason became the first golfer to successfully win the same European Seniors Tour event three times in succession.

Said Mason, who clearly fancies his chances of continuing his winning ways: “It’s great to have captured a little piece of history for myself and, as an Englishman, I’m hugely proud of that achievement.

“The Nicklaus Course at St Mellion is both beautiful and demanding and one that I hold dear to my heart.”

The superb Nicklaus layout is a real superstar of our 2-FORE!-1 scheme – it finished number two in Today’s Golfer’s Top 100 2-FORE!-1 courses poll last year, and offers half-price golf seven days a week – provided you have a 2-FORE!-1 voucher, of course…
