May 24 BMW Celebs

By Chris Jones at Wentworth

Hollywood stars, old comedians and ex-footballers rubbed shoulders with the best golfers in the world yesterday in the BMW PGA Championship Pro Am.

Hugh Grant, Jodie Kidd, Gary Lineker, Mark Bright, Jimmy Tarbuck and Chelsea footballer Andriy Shevchenko were just some of the celebs who teed it up with the European Tour’s best at Wentworth.

Ian Poulter, a keen Arsenal fan, played in a fourball with Chelsea striker Shevchenko and former Arsenal players Lee Dixon and Ray Parlour, while other groups of particular interest include Vijay Singh playing with Grant and Sir Michael Bonallack, a PGA European Tour Board Director; Paul Casey teaming up with Kidd and INXS guitarists Garry Beers and Tim Farriss; Colin Montgomerie with Mansell; and 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie in a team with the BBC crew of Lineker, Bright and golf commentator Wayne Grady.

Thousands of people turned out to watch the action for free, too.
