May13 Woods funnies

Tiger Woods may have floundered on the fairways at Sawgrass, but he’s had some priceless moments off the course this week.

First, he was baited by loud-mouthed South African Rory Sabatini, who claimed the world number one was “more beatable than ever” at the moment.

Woods couldn’t let that one lie, and in his press conference on Saturday said: “If I remember the quote correctly, he said he likes the new Tiger. I figure I’ve won 9 out of 12 and I’ve won three times this year, the same amount he’s won in his career. So I like the new Tiger, as well.”

Woods showed more insight into his humour on Saturday, when he was paired with Henrik Stenson.

On Friday, the Swede accidentally smashed a driver head to pieces after pulling his tee shot on the 18th into the lake.

Bits of clubhead flew all over the place after he banged it into the ground.

So on Saturday morning, as Stenson was warming up on the range, Woods walked over wearing a construction hard hat.

“I’m ready to play with you now,” he told Stenson.

Later, Stenson told reporters, “It was a fun joke. I don’t know if you guys understood why, but it was funny.”
