May21 Puttertest
Last updated:
Today’s Golfer has taken the latest putters on the market and put them through their paces. Our test pro and amateurs hit each putter from close range, mid-length and long distance. They then compared notes and analysed how each putter rolled balls across the green, before coming up with our recommended putters for 2007.
There were too many new styles and designs to pick one outright winner, so we have opted to recommend different designs to help you pick the type you prefer to use.
We’ve selected two gold award winners – Ping’s Redwood Zing (toe-and-heel weighted) and Mizuno’s Bettinardi (mallet-headed). Silver went to the Odyssey Marxman and the bronze to the TP Mills Tradition. We’ve taken into account cost, design, feel, quality and the effectiveness of the clubs’ alignment aids, weighting and their ability to roll smooth, true putts at the hole.
