May30 Glendale golf offer

Eighty aspiring young golfers descended on the Richmond Park golf course yesterday to take part in the Glendale Golf Kids Open Day, which offered a series of free lessons to local children.

The free lessons targeted children aged between 6-16 years with the aim of teaching them golfing skills while helping them develop an interest in sport – as well to find a series of golf prodigies in the UK such as Tiger Woods or Michelle Wie.

The Glendale Golf Kid’s Open Day was held in association with SPARKS, Britvic and Nike Golf. Lessons took place between 9am and 2.30pm with five children allocated to each group (6-9 yrs/10-13 yrs/14-16 yrs) every 30 minutes.

At 3pm, the winners of each age category were announced by CBBC presenter Michael Absalom, who presented them with prizes including a years worth of free golf lessons at the Glendale Golf Junior Academy valued at up to £2,000.

Winners also received unlimited free golf and use of the practice areas at their local Glendale Golf-managed course for one year. All children taking part in the Kid’s Open Day received a certificate of participation, courtesy of Glendale Golf.
