Three players are tied at the top of the Italian open after a rain-hit second day at the Castello di Tolcinasco, near Madrid..

With some players still to even begin their second round it was Joakim Backstrom, Markus Brier and Alvaro Quiros who shared the lead. They were all 10 under.

But with rain stopping play for nine hours in total, many players face finishing their second rounds this morning (Saturday). And Backstrom will have to attempt to play two rounds in a day as organisers attempt to get the schedule back on track. His first-round 62 sees him still at the top, despite not hitting a ball on Friday!

Any further rain delays could mean a Monday finish.

On-form Raphael Jacquelin has played nine holes of his second round and is just three off the lead and looking ominous.
