The Macdonald Rusacks Hotel in St Andrews, which overlooks the 18th green on the Old Course, has been named Large Hotel of the Year at the Golf Tourism Scotland Awards.

The ceremony was held at the town’s Fairmont Hotel last month and the Macdonald Rusacks came out on top, in part due to £1.4 million refurbishment that was recently completed.

Pierre Maréchal, general manager of the hotel, said: “This is a tremendous accolade to receive and one on which we intend to build as we strive to develop and strengthen our position within this competitive industry.

“The reward recognises the hard work and passion shown by my team who are committed to ensuring we provide visitors to the hotel with the very best in service.”

The hotel was also praised for its personal golf liaison facility and the added comfort resulting from the refurbishment.

The Golf Tourism Scotland Awards seek to identify the best performers in Scottish golf tourism, with the event now recognised as the principle social occasion in the industry’s calendar.
