Justin Rose ended a four-year winning drought on Sunday by winning the MasterCard Masters in Australia.

He won £115,359 to move to fifth on the Order of Merit and 51st in the Official World Golf Rankings.

The 26-year-old’s last victory was in the 2002 British Masters. And he said: “I can’t believe it’s been four years.

“It has been a big week for me. I’ve had a few close calls this season but to win a tournament like this is great for my confidence.”

Rose posted a final round 73 to finish on 12 under-par 276, two ahead of Aussies Richard Green and Greg Chalmers.
