Nicklaus gets the golf resort go-ahead

Hands up if you’ve just had plans for a massive golf resort in Scotland approved. Sadly for Mr Trump, he will be keeping his hands firmly in his pockets with all his billions, at least for the foreseeable future. Jack Nicklaus, however, can hold his arms proudly aloft.

Permission has been given to build a £40 million residential and leisure golf resort in the Ury estate, on the outskirts of Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, the centrepiece of which will be a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course.

The proposals were unanimously approved by Aberdeenshire Council’s infrastructure services committee and the course will now be the first in Scotland to join the exclusive Jack Nicklaus Golf Club programme.

The Golden Bear promised to create a “memorable golf experience” and went on to say: “We are delighted to have Ury Estate join the family of Jack Nicklaus Golf Clubs.

“Ury Estate becomes the first project in the UK to be chosen as part of the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club programme that encompasses some of the world’s most sought-after markets and destinations.

“Scotland has always been a very special place for me to play golf, and I look forward to the opportunity given to me to create a memorable golf experience at Ury Estate that my family and each member of the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club family can enjoy for many years to come.”
