The forthcoming Quinn Direct British Masters at the Belfry will provide the platform for the Golf Foundation to showcase its latest initiatives designed to help strengthen the future of the game.
Up to 1000 children from schools and golf clubs will be able to take part in a wide range of actvities in the tented village at the famous course. These include Tri-Golf, which replaces real clubs and balls with safe plastic clubs and soft balls.
Brendon Pyle, Development Manager for the Golf Foundation, said: “It’s great that we are able to stage junior activity at the event and show visitors more about what we do. Through our support of England Golf, many of our regional partnerships are now helping youngsters to move into playing golf at golf clubs, and that is the future of the game.”
One group of youngsters who will attend the event will be from the Windsor Partnership in Birmingham. Through the Golf Foundation’s Community Links programme, they have progressed from Tri-Golf to coaching sessions and are now working towards attaining full handicaps.
The tournament starts next Thursday, September 20th.
