Great Britain and Ireland drew level with the European team after the second day of play in the Seve Trophy.
Bradley Dredge and Phillip Archer had a convincing victory over Peter Hanson and Robert Karlsson. Ryder Cup super-hero Colin Montgomerie came unstuck against Raphael Jacquelin and Gregory Havret – losing five and three.
Monty’s playing partner Marc Warren played despite having to go to hospital after sustaining cuts from a smashed chandelier. He was practising his swing with a five iironin his hotel suite, when he smashed the expensive item, sending glass showering all over himself.
Oliver Wilson and Simon Dyson beat European pairing Thomas Bjorn and Soren Hansen and Justin Rose claimed another GB&I win. It could have been four one to GB&I, but a very close match ended with Mikko Ilonen and Markus Brier beating Nick Dougherty and Graeme Storm.
It’s all set up for a sizzling weekend of action at The Heritage course in Killenard, Ireland. Nick Faldo has impressed so far with his captaincy and is using the event to prepare himself and players for The Ryder Cup at the end of the year.
