Stars set to shine for top charity event

Oulton Hall will be the venue for the forthcoming Eddie Gray Heartbeat Classic on Tuesday July 15th.

The luxurious 5 star resort hosted the successful inaugural 2007 which raised in excess of £30,000. This year’s event will contain the same winning ingredients with Eddie Gray, the former Leeds United soccer star and one of Yorkshire’s favourite sporting sons, calling upon his friends from the world of sport, television and entertainment to compete in the Celeb Am golf tournament.

Ex Leeds United players Norman Hunter and Peter Lorimer have already confirmed their participation.

After the golf, the stunning Oulton Hall hotel will host a black tie gala dinner, which will feature a champagne reception, charity auction and after-dinner entertainment from a selection of guest speakers, including former world featherweight boxing champion Barry McGuigan.

Golfers can either put together a three-strong team with a celebrity making up the four-ball or form their own team of four. The cost to enter a team is £700 + VAT that can be booked by calling the golf sales office at Oulton Hall on 0113 282 1000.

The Heartbeat Appeal is Yorkshire’s leading independent heart charity, which has raised more than £2m since it was launched in 1994. In that time, it has supported doctors and nurses at hospitals in Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Harrogate and York in their fight against heart disease.

Keith Pickard, Director of Golf and Leisure at Oulton Hall said: “With last year’s event being such a tremendous success and a wonderful occasion for everyone who took part, it was only natural that we would lend our support once again.

“To have such a legend in Barry McGuigan as an after dinner speaker will help make it another great occasion, when we aim to beat the amount of money we raised last year for such a worthy charity. I would encourage anyone thinking about entering a team to do so soon to avoid missing out, as we do have a limited number of places.”

Oulton Hall offers golfers of all standards a testing 27 championship hole complex in stunning picturesque surroundings. It has recently completed a £10m development to the golf course and associated facilities including a luxury two story clubhouse, aptly named the Claret Jug, and a new state of the art golf Academy all of which now promotes Oulton Hall as the only five-star golf resort in the North of England.
