BREAKING NEWS ALERT
Tiger Woods has announced that he will miss the rest of the season as he faces surgery on his left knee for the second time in three months.
The world number 1, who winced his way to victory in the US Open, will undergo reconstructive Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) surgery with doctors assuring a positive long-term prognosis, it was revealed on www.tigerwoods.com.
It was also discovered that Woods had two stress fractures to his left tibia just prior to the Memorial Tournament and the lay-off will allow these to fully heal.
“I know much was made of my knee throughout the last week, and it was important to me that I disclose my condition publicly at an appropriate time. I wanted to be very respectful of the USGA and their incredibly hard work, and make sure the focus was on the US Open,” said Woods. “Now it is clear that the right thing to do is to listen to my doctors, follow through with this surgery, and focus my attention on rehabilitating my knee.”
