First Impressions
When I first took these golf shoes out of the box, I was struck by their style. They have a sleek, modern look while still paying homage to the classic golf shoe silhouette that I remember from the 80s. A refreshing balance between tradition and modern golf shoe innovation. Compared to my previous pair of shoes, these felt like a step up in both design and potential comfort. The upper material initially felt slightly stiff, which is typical for new golf shoes, but I was sure they would soften as I wore them, to give way to a much more forgiving and flexible fit. Overall, my first impressions were positive – stylish appearance, promising comfort, and the kind of design that makes you feel a bit more professional the moment you lace them up.

Comfort – 4/5
After a few rounds, I can confidently say that these shoes became extremely comfortable. While there was a small amount of heel rubbing at first, it wasn’t enough to be too painful, and it diminished quickly with use. Around the ankle, the shoes offered excellent support without feeling restrictive, and the toe box provided just the right amount of space, neither too tight nor too roomy. One standout feature was the underfoot cushioning, which made walking the course much easier on the joints. The shoes were also very easy to put on and take off. Due to a back issue, I typically need a shoehorn, but these worked well even with that consideration. The overall fit became more tailored with each wear, and the padding inside enhanced the comfort without feeling bulky. In short, after the brief break-in period, these shoes provided a level of comfort that I genuinely looked forward to round after round.

Performance – 5/5
Performance-wise, these shoes exceeded my expectations. The grip they provided was exceptional, especially on damp grass – no slipping, even during full swings. The molded sole, which put these shoes into the spikeless golf shoe category, seemed to do a great job of maintaining traction without accumulating debris, which helped with both stability and consistency throughout my rounds. I was also impressed with how flexible the sole was. Whether I was bending down to tee up the ball or retrieving it from the cup, the shoes flexed naturally with my movements, offering comfort without sacrificing stability. While I haven’t tested them in heavy rain yet, they performed well on dewy mornings, and the materials feel robust enough to handle wetter conditions. All in all, the combination of grip, flexibility, and support gave me a strong sense of control and balance on the course, which, let’s face it, is more than I can say about my short game!

Durability – 5/5
After three full rounds, the shoes have held up remarkably well. In fact, they’ve only improved in terms of fit and comfort. The materials used feel high-quality and durable, and there have been no signs of wear or tear so far – no fraying, sole separation, or visible damage. The molded sole and spikes also remain in excellent condition, which bodes well for long-term use. Cleaning the shoes has been surprisingly easy; a quick wipe with a damp cloth was all it took to restore them to a nearly new appearance after a muddy early morning round. That said, these are white shoes, and I suspect they might require a bit more effort to clean after a winter round. For that reason, I’ll likely invest in a darker pair for the off-season. Overall, though, the durability and ease of maintenance have been excellent, and I have every reason to believe these shoes will hold up well over time.

Style and Design – 5/5
In terms of aesthetics, these shoes strike a near-perfect balance between modern appeal and classic golf styling. The design is clean, refined, and unmistakably golf-specific, not trying to pass itself off as a running shoe or casual sneaker. They look sharp both on the course and in the clubhouse, and they’ve already earned a few compliments from fellow players. The white version I have looks great during spring and summer, and I’m seriously considering purchasing a black pair for winter. The color options are simple yet versatile, which adds to their overall appeal. What really impressed me was how premium the design feels without being flashy.

Technology and Features – 4/5
These shoes incorporate several subtle but effective features that enhance performance and convenience. One of the standout aspects for me was the moulded spike design. Not only does it provide excellent traction, but it also helps prevent wet grass, sand, and debris from getting stuck on the sole – a small detail, but one that makes a real difference over 18 holes. The ankle support is well-designed, offering stability without compromising movement, which I particularly appreciated on uneven terrain and during full swings. The shoes also feature an easy slip-on structure, and the laces are simple to adjust and secure, making the process of getting ready for a round quick and hassle-free. While they may not have flashy tech buzzwords attached to them, everything they do, they do well. It’s a great example of smart, thoughtful design that enhances your experience without unnecessary features.

Final Verdict – 23/25
The J.Lindeberg Fairway Brogue Golf Shoe is a winning combination of classic style, premium materials, and high-performance features. While there was a brief break-in period for me personally, the comfort improves quickly and remains strong throughout long rounds. The standout performance features – particularly grip, stability, and weather resistance – ensure you stay grounded (literally and figuratively) through every swing. Add in a high-end design that turns heads and a build quality that suggests longevity, and you’ve got a shoe that feels well worth the investment. If you’re a golfer who appreciates both form and function, and you like your gear to perform as good as it looks, the Fairway Brogue is a seriously strong contender.
