What’s In The Bag: Chris Kirk

We find out what’s in the bag of Chris Kirk, the five-time PGA Tour winner.

An emotional Chris Kirk returned to the PGA Tour’s winner’s circle for the first time since 2015 with a dramatic play-off victory over Cole at the Honda Classic.

Today's Golfer What's In The Bag is brought to you in association with Callaway Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X golf balls.

The American, who finished third at the 2022 PGA Championship (his highest finish in a Major), beat Eric Cole in a play-off at PGA National to seal his first win since the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in May 2015.

Kirk’s other PGA Tour wins came at the 2014 Deutsche Bank Championship, 2013 McGladrey Classic, and 2011 Viking Classic. He has a career-high world ranking of 16th.

The 37-year-old, who also has three wins on the Korn Ferry Tour, represented the USA at the 2015 Presidents Cup, a year after he was controversially overlooked for a place in Tom Watson’s Ryder Cup team.

Kirk famously took an indefinite leave from golf in May 2019 to battle alcohol abuse and depression having suffered multiple relapses. He returned to the PGA Tour in November of the same year as a rejuvenated man.

“I wouldn’t be doing this for a living anymore. I probably wouldn’t have the family that I have currently anymore. I came really close to losing everything that I cared about.

“I owe everything that I have in my entire life to my sobriety,” Kirk said after his victory at The Honda Classic.

“For that to have happened and worked out for me, obviously there was some decisions that I made, but mostly the grace of God and a lot of other people that really helped me along the way.

“It’s something that’s constantly on my mind, so it’s pretty easy for me to see that winning the Honda Classic is kind of a bonus when literally every good thing I have in my life I owe to that.”

Kirk is a Callaway staff player and his victory at The Honda Classic helped extend the exceptional start to the year for the brand’s Paradym driver, which is also in the bag of Jon Rahm.
