New TaylorMade ball stars in Darren Clarke win
Last updated:
Ryder Cup cup stalwart and TaylorMade player Darren Clarke received a huge boost to his chances of getting selected for Valhalla as he cruised to victory in the KLM Open in Holland, with a cracking four shot win over fellow TaylorMade pro Paul McGinley.
Darren couldn’t have timed his 12th career European Tour victory (and second in 2008) any better and now poses captain Faldo with a tough decision as stars Paul Casey and Ian Poulter are also bang in form. The last week of qualifying should make fascinating viewing but Darren has made a strong case to join what’s looking like a very strong Euro team!
During his Dutch win, Clarke used the new TaylorMade TP Red golf ball with LDP technology. LDP stands for Low-Drag Performance developed to improve distance on mis-hits and feel softer without sacrificing distance. It certainly seems to working right now as McGinley also used the new and improved TP Red during the event which included his stunning final-round 64 to send him flying into second place. It was the second week in a row the TP Red with LDP has won in Europe and the fifth overall this season.
