Ian Poulter’s winning WGC Matchplay gear
Last updated:
Cobra staff golfer Ian Poulter has played himself up to number five in the World Golf Rankings after his victory at the WGC Matchplay Championship in Arizona.
The Englishman has elevated his status on the world stage with the victory, his first in America, and has ensured he is a virtual shoe-on for the European Ryder Cup team set to take on the US at Celtic Manor in October.
Poulter, dressed in pink from head-to-toe for the 36 hole final, came out on top against fellow Englishman Paul Casey with a determined display of power and precision around the testing Arizona desert layout.
After going one down as early as the second hole, Poulter quickly turned the match around with a fine display of driving and a magical touch on the greens to close the match out 4&2.
In Poulter’s bag was:
Driver: Cobra ZL (9.5°) with a Fujikura 6.0 Motore Speeder X shaft
Fairway woods: Titleist 909F2 (13.5°) with a Fujikura Rombax 7X07 shaft, Titleist 906F2 (18°) with a Grafalloy ProLite 35 shaft
Hybrid: Titleist 909H (21°) with an Aldila NV Hybrid 85 X shaft
Irons: Cobra Pro CB (4-7), Pro MB (8-PW) with True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 shafts
Wedges:Titleist Vokey Design Spin Milled C-C (54°, 60°)
Putter: Rife Aruba

Poulter’s superb driving with the Cobra ZL driver was a feature of his game in Arizona and continues the momentum for the much talked about driver ever since Poulter put it straight in the bag to win in Singapore late last year.
