Video review: TaylorMade Burner 09 irons

It’s not often that an iron will transcend boundaries between game-improver and better-player clubs but the TaylorMade Burner 09 set does just that.

The club has been designed primarily as a game-improver iron with forgiveness, high launch and distance very much the order of the day.

But TaylorMade designers were keen not to lose too much feel or ruin the aesthetics of the club and the result is a reasonably compact clubhead with a thinnish top line – particularly as you progress through to the shorter irons.

This means the irons are pretty appealing to some better players who are looking for a bit of forgiveness as well as the higher handicapper looking to improve.

TG’s gear duo Jonathan Greathead and David Connor took the irons to the range to test them out and see if they would find a place in their bags. You can watch the video below for the results.
