Callaway launches new balls

Callaway has launched three new balls that match the swing speeds of different types of golfer to maximise distance and spin.
Three “Speed Regime” balls – SR1, SR2 and SR3 – are designed to create optimum spin separation for longer drives without compromising on feel around the greens. Each has an rrp of £39.99 per dozen.
To maximise the benefit of Speed Regime technology, Callaway’s R&D team have developed the golf balls to match three common swing speed categories; 90mph and below (SR1), 90-105mph (SR2) and 105mph and above (SR3).
The family also features a new, proprietary, soft cover, delivering tour-level control for the short game, plus Callaway’s trademark HEX pattern, which optimises aerodynamics by covering a greater surface area resulting in longer, more stable and penetrative ball flights.
Dave Bartels, Senior Director of Golf Ball Research & Development for Callaway, said: “If you’re not playing a Tour ball that’s been engineered and fitted to your swing speed, you are giving up significant performance. By individualising the performance of golf balls, meeting the specific requirements of different types of golfer, Speed Regime offers total performance to help lower scores.”
A soft inner core reduces driver spin across the Speed Regime line for extra-long distance, while a firmer outer core helps generate increased spin from short irons and wedges, for aggressive stopping power on the green.
Speed Regime 1 is a four-piece ball, while Speed Regime 2 and 3 are five-piece balls featuring a thin outer mantle, which also helps reduce spin off the driver even further to achieve explosive distance.
Speed Regime 1
‘Optimised Aerodynamics for more distance at moderate swing speeds’
Target swing speed: 90mph and below
Key features and benefits:
• Specifically engineered HEX pattern provides excellent aerodynamic performance for players with swing speeds of 90mph and below, optimising low speed lift to deliver a long, stable, penetrating ball flight
• New proprietary soft cover promotes Tour-level control on approach shots and shots around the green while giving an incredibly soft feel
• Soft inner core generates low spin off the driver for long distance
• Firmer outer core generates higher spin rates for more spin and total control with aggressive stopping power on short irons and wedges
Speed Regime 2
‘Optimised Aerodynamics for more distance at athletic swing speeds’
Target swing speed: 90 – 105mph
Key features and benefits:
• Refined HEX pattern provides excellent aerodynamic performance for players with swing speed between 90mph and 105mph, optimising lift and drag to deliver a long, stable, penetrating ball flight that holds its line in the wind
• Soft cover promotes Tour-level control on approach shots and shots around the green
• Soft inner core generates low spin off the driver for long distance
• Firmer outer core generates higher spin rates for more spin and total control with aggressive stopping power on short irons and wedges
• The thin inner and outer mantles produce more ball speed and reduce spin off the driver for maximum distance
Speed Regime 3
‘Optimised aerodynamics for more distance at Tour-level swing speeds’
Target swing speed: 105mph and above
Key features and benefits:
• Specifically engineered HEX pattern provides excellent aerodynamic performance for players with swing speeds of 105mph and above, reducing high speed drag and promoting a long, stable, penetrating ball flight
• A proprietary formulation that yields the soft feel and exceptional short-game spin skilled players seek in a Tour golf ball
• Soft inner core generates low spin off the driver for long distance
• Firmer outer core generates higher spin rates for more spin and total control with aggressive stopping power on short irons and wedges
• The combination of a firmer outer mantle and softer inner mantle help reduce driver spin and provide additional resiliency, allowing the dual core to unleash powerful ball speeds
