Scotty Cameron have joined golf’s hottest putter trend… but there’s a catch
Last updated:
It looks like Scotty Cameron have finally caved and created a zero torque putter. But when will you be able to get your hands on one?
Scotty Cameron’s 2025 putter lineup is a masterclass in craftsmanship, precision, and performance, tailored for any golfer chasing a premium look and feel on the greens. This year, Cameron expanded his iconic lineup with the new 2025 Studio Style line, a couple of which feature among the best putters of 2025 – a bold statement of the future with a nod to the past, featuring one of the most significant redesigns that we’ve seen in recent years. The most visible difference with the 12 new models was the Studio Carbon Steel insert, which ensures a softer sound for a confident roll on every putt.

These 12 models all featured the traditional aesthetics of Scotty Cameron, with no real surprises. The Phantom mallet products were updated for 2025, but zero torque had been left out of the equation. Until now…
Towards the end of 2024 and into 2025, we saw some Circle T Prototypes, including a T-11.5, which created plenty of chatter online about Scotty’s plans for the Phantom 2026 lineup.
A Phantom T-11 has now been spotted at the Travelers Championship, leading to speculation that a release might be in the pipeline. There has been no official confirmation from Scotty Cameron that the Phantom T-11 is a zero torque (toe-up, shaft‑through‑CG) putter. However, all indications point to this from the design and the lettered shaft leaning on the head.

As with any Circle T prototypes, they are created at the request of tour players, so a Titleist staff professional will have asked for this to be built rather than the brand making it for the masses. Our understanding is that Titleist have no plans to bring this zero-torque putter to market at the moment, but with a L.A.B. Golf putter grabbing its first major victory with JJ Spaun and other brands jumping on the zero-torque trend, that could change. Keep your eyes on the USGA Conforming List for the rest of the year.
What is a zero-torque putter?
With the centre of gravity (CG) being positioned directly below the shaft axis, which enters the centre of the club head (even if the shaft itself doesn’t), it fully removes torque from the putter head. If you pick up a zero-torque putter and twist it in your hands, the head will rotate without any resistance. In turn, this means while you’re putting the putter won’t twist, allowing the zero-torque putter to stay square to your target. With a blade or mallet putter, the putter twists because of the torque.
