tiger comes back

Tiger Woods will play in this week’s World Golf Championship at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

The former World No1 has not played since April due to an injury to his left leg.

He has followed the advice of his doctors and rested since then. He said: “I’m excited to get back out there.”

Woods has slipped down the world rankings and now languishes at 28th. At The Masters in April he aggravated the injury by slipping on pine straw as he played a shot in the third round. Although he did come back and shott a 67 ion Sunday to finish in a tie for fourth.

Tiger has showed patchy form since he returned to golf after the revelations concerning his private life. And just recently he split for long-time caddie Steve Wiliams. Tiger has got Byron Bell on his bag for the WGC.

Bell is a childhood friend of Tiger’s and is president of Woods’ golf course design company.

Tiger has won at Firestone seven times and it’s one of his favourite courses.

The wek after, sees the US PGA – the season’s final Major and Woods is also expected to play there, assuming his knee holds out at Firestone.
