Ras Al Khaimah Championship 2024: Field, betting odds, and tee times for the DP World Tour event

Who will take the spoils at the final stop in the UAE before the DP World Tour’s ‘International Swing’ heads up the Persian Gulf?

Englishman Daniel Gavins claimed his second DP World Tour title at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship in 2023, stumbling over the line with a double-bogey on the 72nd hole for a one-stroke victory.

Gavin had presumed his three-shot lead was blown after managing to find the water twice on 18, only to learn afterward that holing his 25-foot double bogey putt was still good enough to hold off the competition.

“I put two in the water and thought, ‘Well, that’s one way to end the tournament’. I sunk the putt, went to the back of the green, and saw that I was actually winning, still. It was kind of a big shock,” said Gavins.

Daniel Gavins won the Ras Al Khaimah Championship in 2023.

2024 sees just the third running of the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, first won in 2022 by Ryder Cup winner Nicolai Hojgaard, before Gavins’ victory last year.

With Nicolai competing this week on the PGA Tour at the Farmers Insurance Open, the eyes of expectation turn to twin brother Rasmus, who narrowly missed out on securing dual tour status at the end of last season.

Also absent this week are recently crowned champions Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy – who triumphed at the Dubai Invitational and Hero Dubai Desert Classic respectively – leaving it all to play for and a chance for someone to kickstart their 2024.

Nicolai Hojgaard claimed his second DP World Tour win at the Ras al Khaimah Championship.

Who is playing in The Ras Al Khaimah Championship?

Team Europe’s 2023 powerhouses may have fled the UAE scene, but the heroes of yesteryear in the shape of Padraig Harrington and Thomas Bjorn provide the star power this time out in the desert.

With 61 professional wins between them including 15 DP World Tour titles each, the pair will need to pull on all their experience to hold off rising stars Rasmus Hojgaard, Alex Fitzpatrick, and Tom McKibben, in addition to the tour’s early season form players including Thriston Lawrence and Pablo Larrazábal.

Ryder Cup-winning captain Thomas Bjorn has struggled with his mental health.

Where is The Ras Al Khaimah Championship played?

The Ras Al Khaimah Championship takes place on the Al Hamra Golf Course in the capital city of the Emirate Ras Al Khaimah. The 7,400-yard par-72 course, designed by Peter Harradine, hosts the Championship in 2024 for the third time, having also hosted the only edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Classic in 2022 – won by Ryan Fox.

Al Hamra is a typical desert track with generous fairways and water in play on eight holes. See where Al Hamra ranked in our Top 100 Best Golf Courses in the Middle East and North Africa.

The South African duo of Thriston Lawrence and Zander Lombard are also tipped to make a strong outing this week, along with Englishman, and two-time DP World Tour winner Jordan Smith.
