westwood wins

Lee Westwood is world number one again after winning the Indobnesian Opan at the weekend.
Westwood, 38, went into the final day with a five-shot lead but ended up winning by just a single shot from Thongchai Jaidee, of Thailand.
Westwood struggled a bit with the putter but managed to hang on. He has swopped back to a conventional putter after trying a longer-handled version recently.
Although Westwood returned to the top of the world rankings, he has come under fire for not winning a Major. He hit back, saying: “The only thing that gets on my nerves about THAT question is that I keep having to answer it. It gets on my nerves!
I’ve had a lot of chances to win Majors recently and it just hasn’t happened. The rankings are about consistency and playing well week in and week out, which I tend to do.”
Six-times Major-winner Nick Faldo had stoked the debate by tweeting: “Nothing at all against Westwood and Donald as No1 – that’s the system – but I think the system should give extra points for a Major win.”
Luke Donald could have topped the world rankings if he had won in America at the Heritage, South Carolina. He finally lost in a playoff to Brandt Snedeker.
